Hi, Ina ~ My Heuston family knew the Nichols family, too. They settled in Bonanza in 1912. I'm sure you know that the Nichols cabin has been preserved and is located within the Bonanza cemetary. While searching my Heuston line, I called the school, city hall and library in Bonanza and received a great deal of help. I was given names of "old timers" who knew my Heuston family and was able to get some wonderful stories from them. Apparently, a number of years ago there was a woman in Bonanza who established her own museum. After her death, most all of the items were sold to a variety of people. The librarian and the city hall can help you with leads on that. I just thought I'd share that bit of info; I have a really high phone bill and postage bill but I've discovered that I like researching the family that way because I get so many interesting stories about them that I'd miss otherwise. Also (since I don't know where you're located) I have a "genie 'net friend" who loves to travel around and take photographs for those of us not in Oregon. If you'd like info on how to reach her, just let me know. We're planning on returning to live in Oregon in the next 12-18 months, looking at Klamath as a first choice!
