They were mainly involved in the lumber industry. I am particularly interested in obituaries and newspaper accounts. Amos Leon Marshall Slack died in Bonanza on March 19, 1907 as result of an accident. Ila Fay Slack was arrested for embezzlement around 1920 - 1925. A researcher was checking for me a few months ago, but I have lost contact with her without getting the information I sought. Bettie Slack Killgore>> Bettie ~ My Heuston family settled in Bonanza in 1912. I contacted both the Klamath Library Genealogy Section (who were VERY friendly, helpful and researched right away for me) and the Klamath County Historical Society/Museum which took quite some more time(4 months!) and several long distance calls before I got a response. My most effective research was done in a, perhaps, more unusual way. I called the city hall ( which has extremely limited hours), the school, the librarian, etc. They were so friendly and helpful and they spoke to other people in the town and I ended up with phone numbers of "old timers" in the area who were exceptionally forthcoming with memories of my family. I think that half the time was involved in helping me out. So, in addition to the newspaper articles and records info I received from the library and museum, I got wonderful dictated memories of the family, including some from a teacher of my ggrandparent's children! Now I have stories of hunting, fishsing, work, where they lived and with whom, as well as some of their adventures and some sad stories, too. You might try it; I was surprised all that I was able to find out. Sherre --------------7EA76959A1AB3F44AC6AB170--
