    3. August 1945 Klamath Falls, Oregon AUSTIN WAYNE MC NAIR Austin Wayne McNair, a life long resident of Klamath County, passed away Thursday, August 18, 1945, at 3 p.m. at Sprague River, Ore. He was a native of the Klamath Reservation, Ore; and was aged 15 years, 11 months and 16 days at the time of his passing. He is survived by his father, Alfred McNair, Sprague River; three sisters, Phyllis Mae Barkley, Portland, Jennette Mae and Ruby LeVina McNair, Sprague River; five brothers, Alfred, Jr., Alfred Vernon, Calvin, Norman and Leonard McNair, all of Sprague River; a grandmother, Effie Barkley; two uncles, Russell and Donald Barkley; a cousin, Benson John, all of Sprague River. The remains will rest in Ward's Klamath Funeral Home, 925 High Street. Funeral announcement appears in this issue. ++++++++++ Herald & News AUSTIN WAYNE MC NAIR Funeral services for the late Austin Wayne McNair, who passed away at Sprague River, Ore; Thursday, August 16, 1945, will be held in the chapel of Ward's Klamath Funeral Home, 925 High, on Monday, August 20, 1945, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. E. J. Tunning, pastor of the Sprague River Friends Church, officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at the Hill Cemetery. Friends are respectfully invited to attend. +++++++++ Herald & News Klamath Falls, Oregon April 17, 1945 Austin W. McNair, started out on horseback to round-up some horses, according to information received by George Adler. The horse later returned riderless and a search was launched for the boy which resulted in his body being found in the river at 11 o'clock this morning by Deputy Sheriff Willis Panky. It was presumed that McNair attempted to swim the horse across the Sprague River at a deep point and either fell or was washed out of the saddle. _________________________________________________________________ On the road to retirement?
