Hi Bonanza is a very small town and it is possible that you might contact the post office and they could give you some information if any Kilgore's still live in the area. They are very friendly people in that little town or use to be when I was in the Klamath area. Gerry In Oregon
My surname interests are MARTIN, and SPENCER. Chris
Hi Listers: I agree with Dan, we need to use our resources or we could lose them. I am researching the following families: BRAY,CROSSER, HAYWORTH, HERR, HUTCHENS, MILHORN, SKEEN, ISAAC D. SMITH, TROUT AND YOSE.(Indian Chief SHEEPY from the Modoc tribe who lived on Sheepy Creek and was an arbitrator between the Indians and the soldiers) Have lots of info to share with anyone in these families. I am looking for information about a Killgore/Kilgore family that lived in the Bonanza area. The mother's first name was Louise. I met her when she must have been close to 90 at a picnic held at the Bonanza cemetery. My father was born in 1891, and went to school with her. He introduced me to her since her married name was Killgore, as is mine. She told me that she had lots of Killgore family information and records, but I was never able to get in touch with her again. I would like to reach her family. Bettie Slack Killgore
Hi Betty I would just write a letter to killgore familyand send it to the Bonzanza PO to the postmistress and ask her to give it to one of the kids or gkids she was my Mothers best friend. Right Dan! I've received some really fantastic information about my family in Malin from this list! I've always asked questions about my great-uncle, Anton Petrasek, but not about his children's spouses and their families. He had a large one, so I must be related to a lot of people still in the area. Does anyone know anything about any of these spouses or their families? Irena PETRASEK m. Rudolph JELINEK Ivan PETRASEK m. Anna Mary ZUMR December 24, 1936 Edwin PETRASEK m. Norma STORLI June 6, 1939 Enoch PETRASEK m. Frances BURGESS January 19, 1937 Paul PETRASEK 1st m. I am looking for NICHOLS that lived in Bonanaza around 1850. Ina Andre' [email protected]
Hello, everyone ~ please accept my apologies for posting off topic but...........we're planning to move back to Oregon, most likely Klamath Falls area, in another year or so. I was born in North Bend and have family scattered around the state but Klamath seems to be "calling" (especially since Bonanza is so close by, filled with my Heuston, Carter, Maxwell family history!). I'd appreciate off list reponses if any of you have any ideas, suggestions, information to share about employment, housing, homeschooling, etc. and where to begin looking for info. This will be a major change in our lives and we'd like to plan as much as possible so we'll appreciate any and all suggestions/information. We are so anxious to get back to a calmer pace of life, where people take the time to speak to one another! Thanks! Cemetery directories for Klamath County list the following: David Skeen, b. 24 Dec. 1874, d. 18 April 1961, buried in Schonchin Cemetery near Beatty, ore. Belle Skeen, b. 29 Oct. 1867, d. 17 July 1945, buried in Fort Klamath Cemetery. William Skeen, b. 21 June 1876, d. 1 Oct. 1972, buried in Fort Klamath Cemetery. ------------ There is a nice obituary for William Skeen in the Herald and News of Klamath Falls, with a good photo. I can mail a copy if I have an address. I could not find an obituary for David Skeen, and did not have time to look for an obit for Belle Skeen, William's wife. I could not find a cemetery listing for Matthew Hiram Skeen. FYI, there was an obit in the Oct. 16, 1985 Herald and News for Lynn Benton Skeen, a longtime Klamath resident who died Oct. 14, 1985 in Delphos, Kansas. Also, there are four Skeens listed in the phone directory for Klamath Falls and surrounding community. Among them is Del Skeen in Chiloquin, (541) 783-3691. Todd in Klamath Falls
Hi all, Thank you all for the great responses to my questions. References I had run across referring to "Tulelake" and "Tule Lake" as well as the duel locations in California and Oregon were confusing, to say the least. I had no idea what a "tule" was, or its versatility! Thank you again for clearing this up for me, and providing new sources of information to pursue.
