Hi, Edward! I believe that we are related thru the Updegraff surnames in a couple of instances. First one is through the marriage of one of the Updegraff daughters to a Mayberry in Frederick, Maryland or Hagerstown, Maryland. I had a Peter J. Mayberry of Hagerstown who died in Oct 1902 and was buried in Rose Hill. He (Peter) was an exSheriff of Washington Co., Maryland in 1875-1877 also was elected to the Maryland Legislature in 1882. He (Peter J. Mayberry) died on Oct 27, 1902 (Daily Mail, Hagerstown, Monday, October 27th, 1902). ee entry: "The pall=bearers, all cousins, will be A. A. Mobley; I. R. Mobley; C. E. Heard; Geo. F. Updegraff, Ed M. Updegraff, and Albert Heard. Services this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence of Mrs. Wm. Updegraff, W. Washington Street. Conducted by Rev. Dr. Dunbar, of Baltimore, assisyted by Rev. Dr. Charles Albert of Philadelphia, and Rev. F. J. Baum, of Trinity Lutheran church, with internment in Rose Hill cemetery. Also, I have a George Mayberry who married into the Dirck Pennybacker family of Philadelphia. Dirck married Rebecca Pennybacker dau of Dirck Pennybacker and Hannah DeHaven of Philadelphia. George Mayberry was an Iron Master who owned and operated the Columbia Furnace in the Shenandoah County, Virginia. Any help will be highly appreciated. I am looking for the parents of George Mayberry.
