    3. Hello list, I am searching for an ancestor by the name of OEHLRICH, ULRICH, or DELRICH (I cannot make out the spelling) who lived in Germantown PA. in 1800 -1810. Their grandson, Robert Allen(1804-1874) wrote that they lived in "a Brownstone on Chestnut near Walnut (or Walnut near Chestnut)" and that their daughter, his mother, and his father and an uncle were all " lost at sea " when he was quite young and his grandmother placed him in a Catholic childrens home, he called it a "Monastery". Can anyone on this list tell me where I might find help with this genealogical puzzle? Thanks, Ellie in NC

Chestnut runs east and Waltnut goes west, both from Front Street to 63rd Street in West Philadelphia. Look to see if there are any other references to a cross- street, or about any other building or park or whatever, and then the location can be narrowed a bit more. The area known as Germantown is far removed from Chestnut and Walnut Streets, as the former is north and west a bit, and the latter are more regarded as of 'center' city. There is a large Catholic populace in Philadelphia, and perhaps the Cardinals' office, on City Line Avenue, may provide some answers as well. Happy trails... David
