I got caught in the midwest last weekend during the snowstorm and just made it back to the East coast and my email and saw the two posts. Are these as a result of my inquiry as to an actual place called Pennsylvania Barracks which is listed as the birthplace of my ancestor Edward Uptegrove on his Revolutionary War enlistment sign-up? I can assure Erik that "Barracks" is quite legible but that Pennsylvania is not and that is what I am questioning because I have been told that is what the translation is but since I have been unable to find such a place I am not using Pennsylvania Barracks as a factual birthplace. I am endeavoring to find someone with "knowledge" of the area and era to point me in the right direction so that I may continue my quest to find the documentation I need. I am not looking for short cuts or microwave genealogy as I have done quite well in proving and having 3 separate lines accepted by the Mayflower Society. Can anyone help me with Pennsylvania Barracks? Judy
