Greetings from Germantown, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. 1. After some 40 years (1963--2003) in our amateur attempt to document the unpublished OPDENGRAEFF THESIS FRAGMENT (1963), we remain CONVINCED that the heraldry of the two extant Cologne glass panes of the OP DEN GRAFF WINDOWS OF KREFELD (AD 1630) reflects the heraldry of the United Dukedom of Julich (Juliers) and Cleves (Kleve) and Berg---perhaps in the form of the Holy Mary of the Arms of Julich, the Lohengrin Swan of the Arms of Cleves, and the Missing (???) or Transfigured (???) Lion of the Arms of Berg, the triple hearts of the Arms of the "Protestant" Bishop of Munster. 2. IF OUR PERSONAL MEMORY IS ON TARGET: The thesis fragment (1963) alleged that Anne of Cleves (Anna von Kleve) (1515--1557), the 1540 Queen of England, was a grandaunt of Hermen op den Graaf van de Aldekerk (1585--1642), the Mennonite lord biship of Krefeld, the crescent son (second son) and nonhereditary baron in the Order of the Holy Roman Empire; AND, that William IV (V) of Cleves (1516--1592) and his second bride (1546) Mary of Habsburg (1530--1584) (1531--1581) were the alleged paternal grandparents of the same Hermen op den Graaf (1585--1642), pointing to John William of Cleves (1562--1609) as himself the crescent son (second son) of the OP DEN GRAFF windows heraldry underneath the OP DEN GRAFF family motto. 3. BUT FOR MOST OF THESE FORTY YEARS (1963--2003)---in the scribble and garble of our AMATEUR NOTES, we have been OVERLOOKING the AMA (AMMA) OF AMALIA as the solution to the ANNA in the ANNA VON KLEVE (Anne of Cleves) puzzle. 4. WHO REALLY WAS THE "BARONESS MANDERSCHEID" OR THE "BARONESS OP-DEN-GRAEFF" OF ALLEGED COURT GOSSIP OF DUSSELDORF (???) or the alleged Tudor-Cleves documents held by the Spanish Embassy (???), Anne of Cleves (1515--1557), the 1540 Queen of England, or her younger and "unmarried" sister Amalia of Cleves (1517--1586)---(???). 5. Amalia of Cleves (1517--1586) as BARONESS OP-DEN-GRAEFF could explain the ALLEGED PROTESTANT LINE from the House of Cleves if she is the wife of her morganatic or nonhereditary FIRST COUSIN "Herman op den Graaf" (born about 1520), a son of her nonhereditary HALF-UNCLE Dietrich von Kleve (born about 1492), just ONE of the 60 nonhereditary children of her notorious grandfather John II of Cleves (1458--1521) aka JAN II VAN ALTENA aka JOHANN II VON KLEVE aka the PROLETARIUS aka DER KINDERMACHER aka THE BABYMAKER. 6. Due in part to the CENTURY MIXUP in the Herman Opdengraeff data and the Cleves data (1458--1683), I continue to belive in the DOUBLE DESCENT (both paternal and maternal) of Herman Opdengraeff (1585--1642) from his NOTORIOUS great-great grandfather John II of Cleves (1458--1521)---BOTH his nobleborn and legitimate greatgrandfather John III of Cleves (1490--1539), father of Anne of Cleves (1515--1557) the 1540 Queen of England, AND through his nonhereditary greatgrandfather Dietrich von Kleve (born about 1592) brother or halfbrother of another Abraham zu Graf or Abraham de Graef (???). 7. Thank you for your participation in the multiple attempts to solve the ongoing OPDENGRAEFF FAMILY MYSTERY. Sincerely, Glenn Wayne Miller, opdengraaf26@msn.com <mailto:opdengraaf26@msn.com> ///
