Hi, Sherry! It's been awhile since I have seen your name around. Seems like I have corresponded with you before a couple years ago, when I was searching madly for George Mayberry folks, thinking he was the father of my Israel Mayberry. Was I wrong! Later I found that Israel's parents were Justinian Mayberry and Mary Ann Houser Mayberry of Frederick, Frederick Co., Maryland. I found Mary Ann Houser's will that was recorded at Frederick, Md and I obtained a copy and transcribed it to type easier to read, if you need a copy let me know. Here is what I have found about the persons below, I think I have already sent you some info on Rebecca Pawling or on someone who has her name that I am sure is a relative if not the same person. I am really confused on this Rebecca Pawling as I cannot make a connection on how she fits into this puzzle. I know she is closely related but how. Apparently her husband had died and she was living in the household of Susan Taylor and her children on the 1850 Census of Romney, Hampshire Co., Va(WV). Later on in either the 1860 Census or 1870 Census I found her again but this time she was living in the household of Mary Mayberry Smith m. to Capt Abraham Smith Commanding Off of Co K, 13th Regt Inf of Va (CSA) - he died of his wounds from the battle at the Spotsvlyania Court House in 1863. After the Civil War the family moved to Grand River Twp., Cass County, Missouri (later summer or fall of 1866). Also, about the same time Simon D. Taylor a relative of my ggrandpa Francis Mayberry married Mary E. Early dau of Henry C. Early and Eliza A. Clarke of Port Gibson, Claiborne Co., Mississippi. (Note: my ggrandpa Francis aka Frank Mayberry and Simon D. Taylor were boyhood friends and Frank had lived with the family after his mother (Catherine Hass Mayberry) had passed on sometime prior to the 1850 Census of Hampshire County, Va(WV). My ggrandpa Frank (me and my dads namesake) died sometime between 1872 and 1877, as my ggrandma remarried to a D. N. McGill and they had a 2year old son named "Noble" listed on the 1880 Census. By 1880 my grandpa Henry H. Mayberry (about 17 yrs old had already departed for Texas - "Gone To Texas"). He was working as a Cowboy in Gainesville, Cooke Co., Texas buying and selling cattle, and driving them to the Kansas Railheads over the Chislom Trail, he was killed while roping a wild range steer, the horse falling on him crushing him and the saddle and breaking his neck on May 14, 1895. He is buried in the Hickory Community Cemetery, Carter County, Indian Territory(Okla). Oh! yes, I was going to tell you that I checked the Grand River Twp., Cemetery out for my grandpa but couldn't find him, but found the gravesite of his friend Simon D. Taylor and his family which included the name scratched into Simon's headstone "Rebecca Pawling" just the name no date that I remember, so someone wrote the name or scratched it into the headstone after the death of Simon D. Taylor which was in the early 1900's. I forget the date but have it somewhere in my files. That is all I have that I can think of but, if I run onto anything else that I think you might like to know I will send it along. Hope, you are doing well. So, give me a yell once in awhile.
