Wondering if I can be of help. I have many early NJ records and wondered if there are any NJ connections, maybe I'd have something. David
Since you have many early New Jersey records, I wondered if you might be able to assist me in a mystery. According to family records, William Hill, son of John Hill and Esther Mendenhall was born in Cumberland Co, New Jersey 18 Nov 1811. He died 4 Feb 1890 in Bloomington, IL after moving west and establish Bloomington's first newspaper. The mystery is this: He married Rachel Bull in 1836. I have confirmed this with an article I found in the Philadephia Public Ledger. She was born in about 1811 in Philadelphia, her death notice. Her wedding announcement calls her Rachel (Bull) Stoneburner, so I believe she was married previously. The records submitted to the Sons of the American Revolution in the early 20th century say that she was the daughter of Levi Bull and Ann Jacobs. A family history on that family does not mention a daughter Rachel. Any suggestions for confirming her existence? Thanks.
