One of the Original settlers of Germantown was Paulus Kuster, though he was not one of the "ORIGINAL-13" that came on the 'Concord'. He was married to Gertrude Doors who was related to most of the Original-13. Paulus Kuster was the ancestor of General George Armstrong Custer. I recently wrote an article for the 'Germantown Crier', the journal of the Germantown Historical Society, on General Custer's Roots in Germantown. In researching this article, I discovered that a granddaughter of Paulus, Mary Custer (daughter of Paulus' son Johannes) married a William Michener. I am descended from a William Michener (this is the Michener Family of Bucks County into which the author James Michener was adopted). So, I went to some sources here in Germantown and down in Philadelphia and I discovered that my William Michener was, in fact, married to Mary Custer and that I am a direct descendant of Paulus Kuster. So, my roots in Germantown go back to about 1690. This was new information for me. Eugene Glenn Stackhouse President, Germantown Historical Society.
