A repeat for some, a new post to others... Our list used to be on LISTBOT. We moved to ROOTSWEB. But we could not transfer the archives. So I have been copying, one-by-one, each of the archived, data-rich, letters to my computer. From there, I am zipping appropriate sized portions and uploading it to my URL for any interested ones to download. They are .HTML files, and so you need a browser (at this point) to view them. The files are zipped, as I said, which has nothing to do with the use of a zip drive, but is a means of compression of the files, and putting them into chunks so they will transfer or email well. If you do not have a zipping and unzipping program, at this point I cannot help you. You must seek out a computer guru (a kid) who knows how to do this stuff. ":O>) I cannot emphasize how data-rich the overall archives from Listbot are! I am now half-done. You can download the first half of over 2000 letters! This is good stuff, folks. Not every letter is all that good, but there is a lot for each of us to find in these letters! New ones, if you read them, you will not believe how much you can benefit. Do us the favor, in return, to share with us old-timers whatever you can, with any source listings you may have. As for the other project, I am getting some response, but not enough at this point to make it very useful to you. Please feel free to tell me, personally, at [email protected] what surnames you seek of the original 13, and up to two surnames connected by marriage. Here is the download URL again, for those zipped archives from 0 to 1000... http://www.nrao.edu/~vsummers/myfiles/ If you cannot download them, contact me personally, and not the list, and I will email attach you a copy of any you may be interested in. They are not indexed. One last thing. I would really like to see any who can, help us find more data for the name BLAKER(S) which goes back to Bliekers (is often spelled differently). We have a very limited number of members of this surname, and if we are to stimulate them, and assist them, we need to help them find others who share this name of the 13. Thanks, Vince Summers
