    3. Folks, I suspect I may have sounded a trifle rude to Freeway. I regret that. Usually, taglines are fully functional, and it is not too long before I mention that religious topics, virus warnings, flames, etc., are not welcome. Of course one has to mention and should feel free to mention the connection of the subject, the 13, with their religious affiliation and culture, etc. This is totally open to discussion. And I never complain if someone has a signature file that refers to their religious beliefs. As long as it is not 5 pages long... Certainly the country allows freedom of religion, and I do not want to try to change that in any way. I am very religious myself, frankly, but I do not want to get into that. I only mention it to show that I am not being partial or antagonistic. Let me tell a true story about what happened to me, and you may understand why I acted the way I did, whether properly or not... I started a list. It was a good list. KEYSER was the surname being researched. Some of you will remember it. Well, at one point I was very near burnout, and so decided something had to go. I invited volunteers from the list to seek the opportunity of carrying on with that list in good faith. I was going to remain a member, but not interfere. Still try to help, but not maintain the reigns. A likely candidate appeared. I believe they had a religious signature file. As I said, I am not partial or prejudiced. I neither accepted them because they were religious, nor thought of rejecting them because they were religious. What happened? The person took the "honor" of the group, but never contributed a thing. The group was neglected, except for those of us who kept contributing ourselves. Then there was a post by the person. Nice! Great. They were going to be more involved no doubt. NOPE! They actually started discussing religion. Not the religion of the KEYSERs. Not anything or any mention of the KEYSERs. This was going to be their religious forum, even though they did not say that. They turned it into a religious forum. What did I do? Nothing. I kept true to my promise. I silently left the group. I had turned over the reigns. If someone contacted me to join the group, I kindly explained that the group had become basically defunct. So, you will see why, if someone uses a religious signature file, and then starts posting something religious in nature, unrelated to genealogy, and then fusses when others do not like it, I am a little too quick to jump and post. I am defending the list. I lost before, and I do not want to see it happen to so nice and cooperative, and encouraging! a list. Vince Summers List Owner Original-13-L
