To use the Archives --- Click on the URL http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ Type "Original-13" in search box, without the Quotes or Select O then go to Origionall-13 You will then be given a list of each months Archives of all activity on the Origional-13 List --- At this point you have to open each months archive, one at a time, use the Browser FIND to search that months message titles and then open that message. --- There is a lot of good stuff there, other than a specific Name, so be prepared for an evening of reading. enjoy, John
Maureen, I checked on the surname lists for adoption http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/adoptable/B.html and the names were not there and I checked on John Fuller's site and there is a BLACKER List but there is not a BLEICKER list. You can start one if you wish. Let me know and I will show you how. If there is not a mailing list then there is not an archives. I went to the archives and typed in BLACKER and there are a few messages. Dear Friends, Sorry, but I made a big mistake! The name of the SHOEMAKER database is Oneillneb The one I listed in my previous email is the ZOLLARS database! Of course, I will never make another mistake if you excuse this one. Cordially, Jerry Zollars Santa Fe, NM Legacy Family Tree is changing the world of genealogy! Download it today FREE at http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Index.asp?mid=26O8GQi "The 'working poor' as they are approvingly termed, are in fact the major philanthropists of our society. They neglect their own children so that the children of others will be cared for; they live in substandard housing so that other homes will be shiny and perfect; they endure privation so that inflation will be low and stock prices high. To be a member of the working poor is to be an anonymous donor, a nameless benefactor, to everyone else." Barbara Ehrenreich in "Nickel and Dimed"
Dear Friends, I guess I missed the Roll Call period. For what it is worth, however, I've entered all of the information contained in the book, GENEALOGY OF THE SHOEMAKER FAMILY OF CHELTENHAM, PENNA by Benjamin H. Shoemaker, 1903 into a WorldConnect database that can be found on Rootsweb.com and Ancestry.com. This database also contains information on a number of related families and many of the stories from the book. The name of the database is belligen. I'm interested in locating 20th century Shoemakers and related families. Cordially, Jerry Zollars Santa Fe, NM Legacy Family Tree is changing the world of genealogy! Dear List Members, If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fullers Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. Please send this request to KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net not to the entire list. If you would like to visit the archived messages of this list or any other Rootsweb mailing list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search and from there you can search by dates. There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. When sending a posting to the list it would help if you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line. Doing this also might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. Many members are on many many lists and when they see a subject line that reads "My Ancestors" they just delete it. 2. When posting a query regarding a surname it would help all of us if you would put your surname in CAPS. This way the members can easily pick out the surnames you are looking for. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. 6. Now, the hardest thing is, when one of our own, a fellow member becomes upset about a posting from one of us. It is so hard not to jump in and add our two cents when they send their unhappiness to the entire list. I want you to know how much I appreciate it when you just let these posting go by and delete them. Know that I am behind the scenes taking care of the problem. If you ever have a concern that I might have missed a message that needs addressed you are welcome to contact me during the day at Kathleen.burnett@era.com or in the evenings at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. It is your list and is here for your benefit. If you have suggestions or comments you would like in future reports, you only need to send them to me. Kathleen Burnett List Mom KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net
Howdy - don't know for sure, but would surmise so. I don't live there anymore (now Wyoming) so that's why I say that. Perhaps posting to some other PA site might yield better results than here. My own family was from that area around that time period, and I have their records. You might also try your local library, or one with a genealogy section or researcher, to help you better identify where to look. I'll keep an eye out in my source material for your ancester(s) search to see if any hits occur. One never knows. Take care and God Bless... Thank you very much for this information. Do you happen to know if there is any listing of landowners in the Germantown area for the years between 1800 and 1820? Hello list, I am searching for an ancestor by the name of OEHLRICH, ULRICH, or DELRICH (I cannot make out the spelling) who lived in Germantown PA. in 1800 -1810. Their grandson, Robert Allen(1804-1874) wrote that they lived in "a Brownstone on Chestnut near Walnut (or Walnut near Chestnut)" and that their daughter, his mother, and his father and an uncle were all " lost at sea " when he was quite young and his grandmother placed him in a Catholic childrens home, he called it a "Monastery". Can anyone on this list tell me where I might find help with this genealogical puzzle? Thanks, Ellie in NC
The male descendants I sent you fourteen years ago has changed little. If I recall, this was only the first five generations of Kunders. What on earth are you going to do with, or how are you going to handle ten generations? This is not to speak of the 35,000 names I have in the remainder.... Do you have any idea how many this'll be? Erik
Forgive me - I obviously didn't realize that this had gone through the List. Actually, I'm relieved that it wasn't much worse. Howard & Dave: First of all thank you both for your reply. Yes, my William TUNIS, (etc.) died before the 1850 Census. His wife, Lucy (SURIN) TUNIS was still living in 1846. That is when she was trying to receive her dowry in Sevier County, TN. I do have the copies of that transaction. I have not been able to find the finished product of that action. Children that were born to these two were four females and three males. I have been able to trace only two females: Sarah (my Gr. Gr. Grandmother) (TUNIS) b 1795 in NC and married Joel SCOTT. I have her on the 1830, 1840, 1850 @ 55y and the 1860 @ 65y. She died before 1870 in Jefferson Co. TN. Sarah was apparently the oldest child and the youngest appears to be Mary Surin (TUNIS) b 1800 - 1810. She married Amos OWENSBY and had at least 5 children. I have not found them on any census yet. I have the whole National 1880 Census on CDs from the Family Search program and there is one William TUNIS listed at the age of 63 in Humboldt County, CA, living with a niece, Elgiline (@ 36y) EDGEMOND. She is divorced and has 5 children: (17y - 3y) all born in CA. Elgiline and William were both born in TN and I am wondering if he is her Uncle through his sister or a brother. He was born in 1817: thus fitting the age of the second child listed as a male for William & Lucy TUNIS for the birth years of 1810 - 1820. I am hoping this is one other child and that will make three of seven accounted for. Dave: Your William and Mary have the closest dates that could possibly be parents to my William. The name of 'William' does go on and on. Thank you and the list for all of the help. I appreciate every little clue. Dixie (SCOTT)
