I hit the send button too soon. I have her b abt 1730, but that's based on a listing of Wm's kids in birth order - in other words it's a guess. I do know for sure that her parents m 27 sep 1710 at Abingdon MM (although it could be 27 of 9th month which would not be Sep), and her mother d in 1765 age 75.
I have this in my database, found at the URL at the top of the quote > http://www.genweb.net/~leesue/Pottsth.htm > 121. Thomas POTTS was born in 1729. He died on Jul 26 1776 in Chelsea Forge, Sussex Co., New Jersey. He was a millwright by trde and lived in Moreland Township for some time. On June 22, 1753, Walter Moore and Sarah his wife conveyed to Thomas Potts, millwright, of the Manor of Moreland, one helf of a certain corn mill, etc., and two parcels of land in Moreland. (NOTE: Dr. John Rockhill, son of Edward and Elizabeth (Taylor) Rockhill, married, first, Rachel Robeson,) There were no children by this marriage, but some of the descendants by their former marriages intermarried! . ! ! Hello everyone, I haven't really been following this thread, but Mary Deaves spoke of Jan Luken's Bible. It is kept at the Montgomery County Historical Society in Norristown and was available for viewing at least a couple years ago. I thought this was common knowledge or am I mistaken and you all are talking about another Lucken Bible? Regards, Joan
Vince asked that this be posted to the list. I do not have a copy of the Dutch Bible bought to this country by Jan Lukens (Lucken) (Luykens). About 15 - 20 years ago, when Tacy Blake, a member of the Genealogical Sociey of Pennsylvania, located on Locust Street in Philadelphia, asked to see this bible, she was denied access. I do not know if the bible was the property of the Historical Society of Pa. or The Genealogical Society both housed in the same building, but since have parted ways. It seems to me a photocopy of this bible should be available to patrons of both societies. I gave up my membership to the Genealogical Society of Pa. when retiring to Florida, 20 years ago. Somewhere in my files ( in such disarray, luck plays a part in finding anything) is a statement of Abraham Lukens, when he was about to marry Elizabeth Walker, he apologized for marrying out of meeting and he was immediately re-enstated. They were married at the Gwynedd (Pa) MM on 26 November 1771. From this statement, can we assume that Abraham was a Quaker? Does this statement mean that Elizabeth Walker was a Quaker, connected to another Meeting or does it mean she was not a Quaker? Regards, Mary Deaves
I have Abraham LUKENS as the son of Jan LUCKEN. Of course many of us have that listing. Now Jan was either Mennonite or Quaker, right? Do I remember that about 2 of the 13 were Quaker, and the rest Mennonite, or something like that? (In fact, would someone please show a list of the 13, and put their religion next to their name for the benefit of us all, please?) Then what religion was Abraham LUKENS his son? You see, the cover of the book that had all the scripted births and deaths entries for Abraham LUKENS gives mention of the Church of England on the cover. Thus, I am confused, as usual... Vince
Does anyone have the birthdate/place -- possibly even just the parents -- of Elizabeth WALKER, a wife of Abraham Lucken/Lukens, b. Sept. 16, 1703 in Towamencin, Pennsylvania? That is ***he*** was born there. The marriage, leading me to suspect the birthplace of Elizabeth, was in Gwynedd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, on November 26, 1771. Especially valuable would be a source listed with the data... Thanks, Vince Summers

Was not sure what you meant by "true date" until you posted the year..... The change to the Gregorian calendar for the British crown and its colonies occurred in 1752, so would more than suspect this was a reference to the "new calender". -- joe
Hi, folks, I was very fortunate in being contacted by Mary Deaves, and receiving a xeroxed cover and some data out of the prayer book of Abraham LUKENS MDCCLIV. The information is listed as Courtesy of Tacy Blake. Now this is not copyright material, I feel sure. And I do not think I am stepping on anyones toes (I do hope not! I am sorry if I am...) by having scanned this information, and put it for download, in zip format, to: http://www.cv.nrao.edu/~vsummers/myfiles/ The zipped file is listed at 896 Kilobytes. This is just a little less than a megabyte, and may take a number of minutes to download. It has the cover of the book, the two pages (script) of the book with data, and two sheets of typed transcription of the information. Please note that the expression TRUE DATE is used in one spot. Since this prayer book is dated 1754, I am in the belief that it may be just a bit hard to interpret what is meant here. Perhaps some will comment on this. It would be especially beneficial if someone who is likely to be in a position to actually *know*, would comment. Of course all comments are welcome, especially if you have reason to think you may have a particularly valid perspective, even though not being positive. Thanks, and I hope many more will present such data! It is of a very high quality, and is much appreciated... Vince Summers
There is a book now on Thonis KUNDERS at www.GenealogyLibrary.com
Thanks, Mary: I appreciate the copy of the Abraham Lukens (and Mary Maule and Elizabeth Walker) bible pages you sent me. They arrived today, and I have entered the data. It differed just slightly from what I had, and added a bit. But it was great source! Question... When someone says it is the TRUE DATE what exactly was meant by that? I know that there is a difference between the Old Style Calendar and the new, but what is actually meant by ***true*** date? Thanks, Vince Summers
