I was able to obtain 13 of the German issue. These are used stamps but in good condition. If anyone would like one please contact me. LaVere Lukens
Paul Schopp, Executive Director of the Camden County Historical Society, answering a query about a so-called "Liney Ditch" in Camden, NJ, provided some very specific and interesting history "in a nutshell" that included the name LEVERING. I have not got massive LEVERING connections, and I cannot swear to it that this LEVERING is part of the line(s) that criss-crosses the 13's descendant lines, etc. But I think it at least is a relevant try, so here goes: > Liney Ditch takes its name from Line Ditch, a.k.a. Little Newton > Creek, a.k.a. Kaighn's Run, a stream located in South Camden. > This stream originated out near 10th Street at one time. It > flowed under Broadway between Jackson and Lansdowne Street and > appears on 19th and early 20th century maps and atlas plates. > Once Eavenson & Levering constructed their wool scouring mill at > the intersection of 4th, Jackson and Ferry avenues, the stream to > the east disappeared. I have her parents as John and Elizabeth CLAYTON. This is info from another researcher. Would you happen to have any further information on this CLAYTON line? I am trying to document my husband's line which is through Jacob LUKENS, s. of Mathias and Elizabeth, and then thru Jacob's son, Clayton Alan LUKENS. Thanks, Bev McNally
Ah. Maybe I can help some. First, go to http://www.ancestry.com/ and login. Then, look around on the page, and pick ALL DATABASES Then go to the P's. (N-S) Pick Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania Wills 1682 - 1819. Then enter James Claypoole -- 14 Results! Enjoy! Or, after you log in, enter this: http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/4695.htm And put in James Claypoole. Great references. Not complete wills, but very much genealogy on this one! Some reference to James Claypoole can be found at: http://www.oldchesterpa.com/ In the search engine, enter the name. BTW, many names are here... James Claypoole rode the Concord with the 13. He was not part of the 13, as he did not settle there, but he was on board the Concord... See: http://199.72.15.191/Sites/Gen/Chet2/scripts/ShipDetail.asp?ID=12&Ship=The+Concord Lastly, you can also join, even if briefly, [email protected] and likely get some good results, or search their archives, etc. Unfortunately, I have lots of CLAYTONs, but no CLAYPOOLEs. Let us know how you fare. Vincent Summers - I have a free time limit for Ancestry.com and went there again in hopes of finding some info on my line, but could not even find the "Will references" you mention below in your message. Help, please?? (I am a direct decendent of James Claypoole & Helena Mercer Claypoole). Thank you. Antoinette [email protected] "Vincent E. Well, first, let me say that I do not endorse any company, etc., on this site, but I guess I really ought to tell all of you, (most already know it) that Ancestry.com is free for a bit -- all the databases. There are Will References to many, many of the 13 and their descendants. For the name LUCKEN, spelt with a C, there are 64 references, for example. So I just plain have to mention it! To see how to sub, you can examine the tagline at the bottom of your Rootsweb emails, and it will tell you (since Ancestry bought Rootsweb out!) Good Hunting (what an original phrase! ":O) Vince
http://www.rootsweb.com/~paschuyl/castle/castles.html The above site subpage has marvelous images from newspaper articles of collieries. Coal producing sites. Now this would not be relevant, except that I have only seen three of the images so far, and I have run across LYKENS Valley, and a Tyson as being a bigwig in the coal industry. And I have many of the images to look at! If you visit, please note that the image for Wadesworth is not there if you click the link. The link is inaccurately entered, and should read: http://www.rootsweb.com/~paschuyl/castle/castle1.jpg ***** Another thing. I hope to have more zipped archives files from the second 1000 letters for you before long. There are a number of zip programs available on the web. Some are freeware, some shareware, etc. You make the decision what to use. I only mention it because I have received a number of letters confusing this with a zip drive. Also, I wish to avoid discussing software on the list. But briefly, there are programs for Windows and for MacIntosh available on the web if you search. Windows does not automatically come with a zip and unzip package that I know of. So you need to download something to handle these files. Check with your local guru (your 13-year old). Vince
I am an 8th great granddaughter and also a 9th great granddaughter of James Claypoole & wife Helena. I would enjoy hearing from anyone connected to this line. I do have some Claypool/e documents on my website at http://www.fortunecity.com/millenium/savannah/252/homepage.htm It was while researching this line that I found my mother's parents to be 6th cousins once removed. Her father was a 6th great grandson and her mother a 7th great granddaughter. Antoinette [email protected]

Upon request,I am going to delete all members of the Original 13 Group from those having access to my Uptagrafft Genealogical Website at http:www.myfamily.com If any of you would like to continue having "review only" access to my Uptagrafft Website, I will be glad to add you as an individual member. You have only to contact me (reply to this message) and request same. I need only your name and email address. If you are directed related to my family branch and want to be "participating member" with authority to add and amend the website, please let me know. Burnell Keath Uptagrafft
Hi all, Due to a coincidence of events, I have begun to look at my Germantown ancestors. I hoped there would be an email list for that; so was glad to find this one. I have been lurking for awhile and reading the old messages that Vince as been zipping. For the past 2 years,I have been participating in the Dutch-Colonies list; so seeing names such as Thones, Leentje, Dirk, Greitjen, Aert, and Theissen makes me feel right at home. Below, I show a brief ahnentafel chart to show the people I am interested in. It was compiled from secondary sources and second-hand info. The most recent secondary source being: _Higgins Ancestors_ by Richard and Kathryn Hott, 1985. I have 2 questions (for now): 1) Where can I find primary sources to (hopefully) substantiate what I show below? Either printed books or LDS microfilm. In Edward Hocker's book on Germantown, I read that the Germantown Quakers were part of the Abington monthly meeting. I see that the LDS has microfilm of those records, #0383428. Is that a good film for what I want? I'd also like to find wills, deeds, court records, etc. 2) Does anyone have any leads for me on these Wolfcales or Hatfields? 1st GENERATION 1 John WOLFCALE Jr: b 1776 ,,VA; d 30 Mar 1851 ,Mahoning,OH - -------------------------------------------------------------- 2nd GENERATION 2 John WOLFCALE Sr: b 1752; m 1774 ,Loudoun,VA; d Jul 1839 ,Trumbull,OH 3 Agnes CONARD: b 1747/1748 ,Philadelphia,PA; d 1828 ,Trumbull,OH - --------------------------------------------------------------- 3rd GENERATION 6 Anthony CUNRED: b 1706 Germantown,Philidelphia,PA; m 1733 ,Philadelphia,PA; d 1747 Worcester Twp,Philidelphia,PA 7 Sarah HATFIELD: d abt 1762 ,Loudoun,VA - -------------------------------------------------------------- 4th GENERATION 12 Cunraed CUNRAEDS: b 1678 Krefeld, , ,; m 1704 Germantown, Philadelphia,PA; d 1747 Worcester Twp,Philadelphia,PA 13 Anne KLINKEN: b 1683 Toppenburk,,,; d Bef 1721 14 John HATFIELD - ------------------------------------------------------------- 5th GENERATION 24 Thones Kunders 26 Aret Klinken Lastly, I'm also interested in one of the later arrivals: Heinrich Zellen (Hendrick Sellen) who arrived in 1685. Guru LOL! Well for those new to the net and PC's.. it can get crazy, but! If you are on AOL, go to keyword WINZIP... If not, it's obiously LOL http://www.winzip.com If you have any trouble a simply search engine will lead you to it by typing Shareware,Winzip.... THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!.... There are ways for making executable files, that UNZIPP the Zipped file upon downloading... YOU SHOULD NEVER TRUST Those unless you can trust the sender will bye you a new computer and pay to have the old hard drive copied for all of your lost data! Yes, it's that bad! Another Program called Winzip2000 has that as an option and I have seen them on the web... NOT WISE to Download any executable file that is FWD to you or sent by a stranger or non reputable site... Vince knows what he is doing, and I too have downloaded alot already to save ... His is fine... but now those who are learning, will also know the difference between zip/unzip exe files and so on... you may download a sharewhare copyu, but unzip them within the amount of days listed upon instalation, use your free trial to get the info... It is well worth it , as I was on that list too, and I cam in the middle of Very AWESOME discussions. Hi everyone! About this Suplee request or info... Are we all aware that THIS particular name change cam from Hances Siblings being half Siblings? I will get out the exact details on who when and where ASAP, I have not been that up to par, so I will make an effort to get to this ASAP.... or just write back that you all know about the sibling riff and Why the name was changed on purpous to Seperate themselves from the First children... I would venture to guess which line, but would rather give Documented proof. I am on all those Montg, Phili lists and other's too. If I find anything else on them that apply to the orig 13, I would be happy to pass it along as well.. I am looking to find persons to join our little list, named BLAKER today. I am also jotting down Web URL's with some BLAKER information for any interested in what is there... http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/GreeneObits?read=228 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/GreeneObits?read=1218 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/GreeneObits?read=1206 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/Bucks?read=3237 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/LickingBibl?read=12 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/MuskingumBibl?read=6 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/In/DeKalbObits?read=692 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/Bucks?read=2903 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/CameronBios?read=38 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/GreeneObits?read=373 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/LebanonObits?read=8 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Loudoun?read=841 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/In/GreeneBios?read=185 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/Bucks?read=677 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/In/Putnam?read=1011 http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Loudoun?read=1049 These are all the basic same location, but please note that I also invited pretty much each and every one of these persons. Be prepared, I hope, for a BLAKER onslaught! I will work on another surname of the 13 another day... Vince
A repeat for some, a new post to others... Our list used to be on LISTBOT. We moved to ROOTSWEB. But we could not transfer the archives. So I have been copying, one-by-one, each of the archived, data-rich, letters to my computer. From there, I am zipping appropriate sized portions and uploading it to my URL for any interested ones to download. They are .HTML files, and so you need a browser (at this point) to view them. The files are zipped, as I said, which has nothing to do with the use of a zip drive, but is a means of compression of the files, and putting them into chunks so they will transfer or email well. If you do not have a zipping and unzipping program, at this point I cannot help you. You must seek out a computer guru (a kid) who knows how to do this stuff. ":O>) I cannot emphasize how data-rich the overall archives from Listbot are! I am now half-done. You can download the first half of over 2000 letters! This is good stuff, folks. Not every letter is all that good, but there is a lot for each of us to find in these letters! New ones, if you read them, you will not believe how much you can benefit. Do us the favor, in return, to share with us old-timers whatever you can, with any source listings you may have. As for the other project, I am getting some response, but not enough at this point to make it very useful to you. Please feel free to tell me, personally, at [email protected] what surnames you seek of the original 13, and up to two surnames connected by marriage. Here is the download URL again, for those zipped archives from 0 to 1000... http://www.nrao.edu/~vsummers/myfiles/ If you cannot download them, contact me personally, and not the list, and I will email attach you a copy of any you may be interested in. They are not indexed. One last thing. I would really like to see any who can, help us find more data for the name BLAKER(S) which goes back to Bliekers (is often spelled differently). We have a very limited number of members of this surname, and if we are to stimulate them, and assist them, we need to help them find others who share this name of the 13. Thanks, Vince Summers

>From Listbot, letters from the archives available: 300to350.zip Download from: http:/www.nrao.edu/~vsummers/myfiles/ or, if not possible, email me for an email attachment at: [email protected] Vince
I must be obsessive today! I have taken letters 250 to 300 and zipped them, and put them at: http://www.nrao.edu/~vsummers/myfiles/ <--note it is a tilda, not a dash If you cannot download 250to300.zip then contact me if you can receive email attachments... Vince Summers
First, let me say that I went on and did another fifty emails from Listbot. The are also available at: http://www.nrao.edu/~vsummers/myfiles/ or, if not accessible by you at that site, by contacting me and accepting an email attachment of the zip file at [email protected] ***** We do not have Roll Calls as such here. But I would like to afford the group an alternative that only taxes me, and will not clog the archives. Please send me a brief email, if you wish, stating your direct lines, where applicable such as Lucken, Kunders, Op den Graeff, Streypers, etc., and your descendant lines to two generations, surnames only, and I will make up a list, and submit it within the next couple of days to you as a composite list. This will show each of us what sort of raw material is available on this site at present. Then, if you see something in the list that interests you, perhaps that you did not suspect before, you can post about it. Send the emails, not to the list, but to: [email protected] Vince Summers
Dear Group, First, a brief reminder... Please be sure that posts have at least have some relevancy to the Original 13 Settling Families of Germantown. Here are some of the basic possibilities: 1. You do not know if someone connects, but believe it could be, and you wish to inquire. 2. You have information or a question about any of the 13 names, and of practically any nature. Open season on this one, basically. 3. You have a question about, or information on, a descendant line of the 13. 4. You wish to inquire of the basic purposes of the group (contact List Administrator -- me at [email protected]) 5. You wish to talk about the voyage, the Concord itself, the life overseas beforehand or now, etc. In other words, anything that is even distantly connected. Please do not do any of the negative things mentioned in the taglines at the bottom. Please do not talk about the Smiths of Hawaii, the benefits of health food, the church picnic, etc. There are probably groups on those subjects somewhere, since there is a list for about everything. OK. Now, here is a positive thing, though small. I have copied and put into zipped format, about 50 more HTML letters from the Original 13 Group when still at listbot. They would have been called 150to200.zip, except that I combined them with 0 to 150, and called the whole thing 0to200.zip. You will need an unzipping program, of course, and an HTML viewer, such as Netscape or Internet Explorer, or any of such other viewers. One day I may just knock them all out. But I will try to keep the packets down under 500 kB. This one is about 490 kB. Download at: http://www.nrao.edu/~vsummers/myfiles/ or contact me, if that does not work for you. Contact me, not through the list, but through [email protected] Thanks! Vince Summers Listowner
