Six sons, including William Yocum, born 11 August 1747 in Towamensing Township, Montgomery County, Pa., married Margaret Wilson by 1776, died 11 Dec. 1813, Lower Salford Township, buried at Tennis Family cemetery, Allentown Road, Towamensing Township. Five children, including Jonathan Yocum, born 30 November 1779, Lower Salford Township, Montgomery County, Pa., married Mary Kulp by 1804, died 13 May 1859 in Upper Providence Township, Montgomery County, Pa. Buried with wife at St Luke's Cemetery, Trappe, Pa. I am a direct descendant of Thones Kunders and of Wilhelm Streypers. I am working with Joan Higgins to collect information on ALL of the descendants of Wilhelm Streypers and Mercken Willemsen Luken. So far, we have many thousand names in our database. In the past couple of years we have concentrated searching in original records such as Montgomery County and Philadelphia County estate records, marriage licenses, church records, cemetery records, census records, etc. Because of other demands, both Joan and I have been "quiet" for a few months, but will be back on the Streeper track soon. If I am descended from one of the original 13, it is from Peter Kuerlis. However, I have not been able to document the line to Peter to my satisfaction beyond William Kerlin born about 1786, perhaps in Pennsylvania or Virginia, who died in 1846 in Indiana. The earliest I can document William is a 1816 purchase of land in Washington County, Tenn., from a Joseph Kerlin, who is identified in family tradition as his brother. From info on William's children, it probable that William was in Tennessee as early as 1809. A descendant of William did get in the DAR in the late 1800s claiming William was the son and grandson of two John Kerlins from Berks County, Penn., but even if that is true -- and I have my doubts -- I would still need at least one more generation to get back to Peter. There are some family associations going from Indiana directly back to Pennsylvania that suggest the connection to Peter Kuerlis exists, but I lack firm documentation. -- Karl Seitz
