Attendees Asked to Bring Family Data, Documents. A free genealogical workshop will be offered to the public Wednesday, October 16, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the PUD meeting room, 2345 River Road, The Dalles. The workshop is sponsored by Celilo Chapter NSDAR. Conducting the workshop will be Shirley O'Neil, DAR State Lineage Research Chairman, from Champoeg Chapter DAR. Membership in the DAR is based on the descent from a man or woman who served as a sailor or soldier or civil officer in one of the colonies or states or as a recognized patriot who rendered material aid to the cause of the American Revolution. Proof of lineage is required. The genealogist will assist those attending on a one-on-one basis. Special assistance will be given to those women 18 years or older who are interested in joining DAR. The workshop is open to anyone interested in working on family lines. Reservations are not needed and family worksheets will be provided. Those planning to attend are asked to bring any helpful data concerning their ancestors such as: birth, death, and marriage certificates; baptismal certificates, land records, probate and will records, pension papers, service records, family Bible and genealogies, census records, obituaries, cemetery records and newspaper items.
