Surnames: Ogawa, Iwagami, Toda, Kiser, Akita, Imai, Hoffman Susie Shizue Ogawa, 84, a resident of Dallesport (Washington), died at her home On Saturday, May 31, 2003. She was born October 27, 1918, in Dee (Oregon), the third of eight children to Choshiro and Kumano (Iwagami) Toda. She attended The Dalles area schools, Graduating with honors from The Dalles High School in 1937. During World War II, her life was interrupted by internment in California and Idaho. She stayed on and worked in Idaho before returning to Dallesport in 1945. She married Akira "Ike" Ogawa on October 25, 1947, in The Dalles. They operated Their own farm for more than 25 years but before that worked for many years for other farmers. They bought undeveloped Dallesport farmland in 1949, but did not move to the Property until 1962. They used to truck their produce to Portland, but in later Years, produce customers came to the farm from miles around. She was a member of Japanese American Citizen League and enjoyed her grand- Children, raising flowers and gardening, reading, traveling, mushroom hunting, Cooking and her pets. She is survived by her daughter, Judy, and her husband, Tony Kiser, The Dalles; Grandchildren, Bret Kiser, Fayetteville, North Carolina; serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Middle East, and Sara Kiser, residing in Sydney, Australia, While attending Hillsong International Leadership College; her brothers, Harry Toda, Dallesport; Tom and his wife, Mamie Today, Portland; her sisters and their spouses, Marie and Saburo Akita, Dallesport; Mary and Shige Imai, Dee and Lena and Bob Hoffman, Beaverton (Oregon) and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Akira Ogawa in death in May 2001, and Her parents, an infant sister, Tazuko Toda and her brother, Frank Toda. Evening visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 8. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 9, at 2 p.m. at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home with Asa Jenson officiating.
