Surnames: Barney, Wilson, Franz, Kellogg William Homer Barney, 69, a former resident of Hood River (Oregon), died in Redmond (Oregon) on December 20, 2001. He was born September 6, 1932 in Hood River to Raymond Claude and Kathryn Mae (Wilson) Barney. He grew up and was educated in the Hood River area. He lived in many different areas in Oregon and Alaska. He worked as a logger, following in the footsteps of his father and many other members of his family. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and clam digging. After retiring from the lumber business, he spent most of his time helping handicapped senior citizens. Survivors include his brother, Raymond "Bud" Barney, Boring (Oregon); two sons, Bill Barney, The Dalles and Ron Barney, Portland; two daughters, Joanne Franz, Hood River; and Janet Kellogg, Mosier (Oregon); and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Barney, and a daughter, Karen Barney. A memorial service will be held at Anderson's Tribute Center on Friday, December 28, at 1 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, in care of Anderson's Tribute Center, 1901 Belmont, Hood River, Oregon 97031.
