Surnames: Koch, Kantenwein, Toomey, O'Connor, Lermo, Caldwell, Weir, Neils, Harvey, Chan, Hathaway, Macklin, Porter Dorothea Rhae Koch, 87, a resident of Hood River (Oregon), died on December 23, 2001, in White Salmon, Washington. She was born in Portland on February 27, 1914, the middle of identical triplets to Daniel and Marie (Kantenwein) Toomey. When she and her sisters were just a few months old, the family moved to The Dalles where the girls attended school. She married Edward J. (Ted) O'Connor in June of 1932. They made their home in Tacoma, Washington where their one and only daughter, Patricia, was born. In 1945 the family relocated to White Salmon where they owned and operated a cafe called The Grill. They eventually divorced and she married Howard Koch. The two of them owned and operated Mt. Adams Power Tool until their retirement. They enjoyed many activities including dance club, square dancing, Emblem Club, bowling leagues, Bridge Club and Bingo. Survivors include nieces, Betty Ann Lermo Caldwell, Gladstone (Oregon); and Sue Lermo Weir, Portland; her daughter, Patricia Heils, Honolulu (Hawaii); four grandchildren, Jamie Neils and Judy Harvey, White Salmon; Joyce Chan, Chicago (Illinois); and Jerinne Neils, Venice, California; nine great-grandchildren, Stacey, Tiffany and James Neils; Dan, Hayden, Brooke and Mara Hathaway, all of White Salmon; and Patrick and Max Chan, Chicago; a nephew, William Macklin, Tillamook (Oregon); and a stepdaughter, Janet Porter, and her family, North Bend (Oregon). She was preceded in death by an older sister, Helenmarie; triplet sisters, Frances Macklin and Betty Lermo, and her husband. At her request, there will be no funeral service. A spring-time memorial graveside service will be announced at a later date.
