Surnames: Olson, Breding, Young, Mason, DeMars Lyle 'Bud' Olson, 78, a resident of Hood River (Oregon), died at his home on Thursday, December 13, 2001. He was born January 29, 1923, in Burke County, North Dakota to Erling and Lydia (Breding) Olson. He grew up and was educated in Powers Lake, North Dakota. He moved to Hood River in 1936 and on November 3, 1945, he married Rose Young in White Salmon (Washington). They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Over the years he worked at many different jobs in Hood River, as a mechanic at a service station, in construction at Bonneville Dam and for two auto parts stores in Hood River. Later he went to work for Taylor's Mobile Homes in The Dalles, where he sold and transported mobile homes. His hobbies included working on cars and building hot rods and was known for his ability to fix anything from cars to home appliances. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hood River for many years. His most treasured thing was his family and the time he spent with them. Survivors include his wife, Rose; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Phil Mason; two grandsons, Erin and Eric Mason and soon-to-be granddaughter-in-law, Anne DeMars; and two great-granddaughters, Ashley Mason and Abby DeMars; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be on Tuesday, December 18, at 2 p.m. at Anderson's Tribute Center with burial at Mt. View Cemetery to follow.
