Williams, smuggling opium, true bill. Ed Whitback and John Stillwell, breaking into postoffice, true bill. Captain Charles F. Stone, and E.J. Hyde, conspiracy to defraud U.S., two indictments each. Subornation of perjury, two indictments each. C.F. Stone, impersonating U.S. officer, true bill. Abraham Rell, Mayhem, true bill. F.M.O. Holsten, forgery, five indictments. The United States grand jury which was discharged Saturday, after a two weeks' session, found thirty-seven true bills and three not true bills. They were complimented by Judge Deady upon their energy and industry. -------------------------------- Mr. J.M. Anderson, of Sherman county, is in the city. He reports nearly all the wheat hauled to the stations and that remaining in the fields will not be damaged by the rain unless it should stand too long. Married At the residence of the bride's parents in this city Monday, December 15th, Mr. John Dexter, to Miss Grace Crossen, daughter of Colonel J.B. Crosson, both of this city. Reverend Eli D. Sutcliffe performed the ceremony. Both contracting parties are well and favorably known here. Mr. Dexter being a deservedly popular engineer on the Union Pacific and his bride having been born here____know by all as a kindly, happy nature____graceful little lady, whom any man might be proud to win. Should all the ____friends throw after them the proverbial shoe, or well-meaning rice, the mark____would be exhausted, and the train on which they left for their bridal tour to the west, would be swamped. -------------------------------- LOCAL BREVITIES page 3 Mr. Louis Clinger and wife, of Fifteen-mile were in the city today. Mr. Al Sutton, of Portland, whom everybody knows, is visiting friends here. Honorable E.L. Smith is under medical treatment in Portland and is improving slowly. Mr. J.O. Mack was at Seventeen-Mile Sunday, and reports the ground dry and dusty when he left at 10 o'clock that morning. Dr. Siddall registered at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco (California), on the 10th. The doctor will probably remain away the greater portion of the winter. T. ?. Fargher, of Fifteen Mile is in the city on business. He says more rain is needed and the farmers are in readiness to begin fall and winter sowing.
