Surnames: Holman, Frison, Wilson, Hardenbrook, Twidwell Henry "Chet" Chester Holman, 84, a resident of Hood River (Oregon), died at his home on September 19, 2002. He was born March 8, 1918, in Prineville (Oregon) to Henry Chester and Agnes (Frison) Holman. He was raised by his foster mother, Ida Wilson, of Prineville, and graduated from Crook County High School. He worked at various jobs in Prineville such as for the Civic Conservation Corps, as a machinist and later as a master mechanic for the Crook County Roads Department. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant, and was part of the Air Transfer Command. He was an airplane mechanic and worked on two of our former Presidents aircraft. Toward the end of his service in the military he went overseas and served in Okinawa. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1945. After the war he returned to Prineville and married Ina Hardenbrook. They lived in Los Alamos, New Mexico, where he worked for the University of California in their science lab. In 1960 he and his wife moved to Bonneville (Oregon) and once in Oregon he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. He put time at both Bonneville and The Dalles dams as a machinist and in 1965 he and his wife moved to Hood River; and have lived there since then. He enjoyed hunting and boating and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Ina, Hood River; sons, Phillip Holman, Washougal; and Richard and his wife, Vicki Long Holman, Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughters, Sheila Holman, Haines (Oregon); and Juli and her husband, Ken Twidwell, The Dalles; grandchildren Stephani and Ranay Twidwell; James, Erika, Christine, Sidney, Allison and Hannah Holman. He was preceded in death by a son, Sidney Holman. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 28, at 2 p.m. at Anderson's Tribute Center in Hood River. Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 27, at 2 p.m. at Juniper Haven Cemetery in Prineville.
