Surnames: Foster, Davis, Ayars, Simrell, Gail, Baker, Bondo, McGrady, Bufort, Frame, McDonald Kenneth "Ken" George Foster, 88, a resident of The Dalles, died at his home on Wednesday, May 15, 2002. He was born January 14, 1914, in The Dalles, the second of four children to Claude George and Susan Elizabeth (Davis) Foster. He grew up in The Dalles and graduated from The Dalles High School in 1932. He married Doris May Ayars on November 24, 1940, in La Grande (Oregon). They lived in The Dalles until moving in 1942, to Mt. Hood (Oregon) to farm. In 1946 they returned to The Dalles and he built an 11 unit apartment house. He then started his company, Home Builders, which built homes and other structures all over The Dalles area. In 1952, the family moved to North Bonneville (Oregon) to operate Foster's Evergreen Dairy, selling bottled milk. They then moved to Odell (Oregon) in 1965, where he built homes before beginning to sell and set up mobile homes. They moved to Battle Ground, Washington in 1978, and then to Vancouver in 1983, before returning and building a home in The Dalles in 1991. He enjoyed woodworking, gun and antique collecting and music. He served as a board member of the Old Fort Dalles Museum. He is survived by his wife, Doris, The Dalles; his children and their spouses, Ken L. Foster and Val Simrell, Vancouver; Kathryn Gail, Everson, Washington and Karolyn and Tim Baker, Hailey, Idaho; grandchildren and their spouses, Kelly and Autumn Foster, Tacoma (Washington); David Foster, Seattle (Washington); Kyle and Julie Bondo, Washington D.C.; Kasey and Cindy McGrady, Providence, Rhode Island; Aaron Baker, Sun Valley, Idaho; Andrea and Anthony Bufort, San Diego, California; Tony and Kimberley Baker, Three Hills, Alberta, Canada; Rebekah and Jeff Frame, Newberg (Oregon) and Ben and Seth Baker, Hailey; great grandchildren, Zachary, Kayla and Emilee Bondo, Stuart and Steven Baker, Gabriel Foster and Jay Frame; his siblings and their spouses, May McDonald, Richland, Washington; Lafie and Betty Foster, The Dalles and Robert and Arlueen Foster, Gresham (Oregon). He was preceded in death by his son, Kerry Dean foster in 1963. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 20, at The Dalles United Brethren Evangelical Church, 1001 East 12th Street. Interment will follow at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Gorge, 751 Myrtle Street, The Dalles, Oregon 97058.
