    3. Surnames: Bond, House, Worthen, Mabrey, Smith, Carter Sharon Kay "Penny" House Bond, 62, a resident of The Dalles, died Thursday, June 12, 2003 at a local hospital. She was born September 15, 1940 in Murphysboro, Illinois, the youngest of Three children to Harry A. and Mary (Worthen) House. In 1943 her family moved To Hood River (Oregon), where she grew up attending local schools. She was in The class of 1958 at Wy'East High School. On September 28, 1956 she married Burl Bond, Jr., and they made their home in Hood River for a number of years before moving to The Dalles in the late 1950's. She was a homemaker and loved maintaining her home and cooking. Early in her Adult life she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School classes. Active in her community, she served as a 4-H leader and as the official Scorekeeper for the Western Little League in addition to serving with the Chenowith Roller Skating program and working as the statistician and Scorekeeper for her husband's Babe Ruth ball team. For the past six years she had been the official scorekeeper for the Oregon High School State/Metro baseball series held in The Dalles each June. She loved animals, especially dogs. She had been active in animal concerns, For many years serving as the treasurer for Mid-Columbia Animal Friends spay And neuter fund. In more recent years she and her husband provided a foster home for Home At Last Animal Friends. She had been a member of the Rowena Baptist Church and enjoyed on-line witnessing for her faith with her computer. She discovered computers during the last three years of her life and enjoyed "dressing up" her e-mails and sending them. She is survived by her husband, Burl Bond, Jr. and her children and their Families; son Kent and his wife Anna Bond of Hillsboro (Oregon) and their Three children, Derek, Chelsea, and Jessica; her daughter Lisa and husband Jeff Mabrey, The Dalles and their three children Heidi, Jeffrey and Jacob; Daughter Kaye and her husband Wayne Smith, The Dalles and their children Zachary and Summer; her mother Mary House, Hood River; brother Kent and Maria House, Prineville (Oregon); sister Peggy and her husband Don Carter, Parkdale (Oregon); and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family, including her dog and steadfast companion Maddie. She was preceded in death by her father in 1967. A service in celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2003 in the Grand Ballroom of the Civic Auditorium in The Dalles, with the Reverend George Clark presiding. A luncheon reception will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Small Time Dog Rescue, 5630 Wahtonka Road, The Dalles, Oregon 97058 or to Home At Last Animal Friends, P.O.
