    3. Surnames: Remington, Tehan, Perry, Mellum, Hufferd, Wabschall Vivian Margaret Remington, 77, a longtime resident of The Dalles, died at a Local hospital on Wednesday, July 2, 2003. She was born October 2, 1925, in Williston, North Dakota, the fifth of seven Children to Albert Henry and Hazel (Tehan) Perry. She grew up remembering the Very cold winters in North Dakota before moving to Hood River (Oregon) in 1943, To join her sister whose husband was serving in World War II. Upon graduating from Hood River High School in 1944, she received pre-nursing Training at Eastern Oregon College and went on to graduate from The Dalles General Hospital Cadet Nurses Corps Program in 1947. She married Ben Remington on February 1, 1948, and they celebrated 51 years of Marriage together before his death in 1999. Vivian worked as an RN at The Dalles General Hospital & Clinic until the birth Of her three children. She felt that being a mom and homemaker was one of the Most important and rewarding parts of her life. When her children were older, she returned to work as a chemist at Stadelman Fruit until her retirement in 1990. Up until the death of her husband Ben, they enjoyed traveling together in Their motorhome. She loved to read, cook, go on picnics and made the best Apple pie, but most of all, she was the center of her family and will be Greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter and her husband, Peggy and Mike Mellum of Portland; two sons and their wives, Bob and Linda Remington, Wenatchee, Washington; Mike and Michelle Remington, Walla Walla, Washington; six grand- Children, Nick and Kristin Mellum, Portland; Angie and Kevin Remington, Wenatchee, Washington; Tyler and Kasey Remington, Walla Walla; two sisters, Doris Hufferd, Blue Springs, Missouri; Edith Wabschall, Hood River; numerous Nieces and nephews and her brother-in-law and wife, Raymond and Marie Remington, The Dalles. Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home Wednesday, July 9 from 2 to 7 p.m. and Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Family graveside services will be held at The Dalles Odd Fellow Cemetery on Threemile Road on Thursday at 1 p.m. with Reverend Tim Foster officiating.
