Looking for information on OTTO GILBERT SMITH (b.abt. 1912) married Susie Opal Gilreath Dec. 20, 1927 in Depew, Creek Co., OK. Otto was shot by someone named DRAPER? This is believed to take place in Hood River. Otto was the son of Hendly Smith and Mahalia Kajsie. Thanks, Paula Researching: Gilreath, Bussewitz, Curry, Burger
Hello List, I am hoping there's someone out there in Hood River who has a picture, or other type of memento, of a candy/ice cream/cigar/newspaper store, called "The Heights Confectionery", that was in operation on the Heights from about 1913 to?? My husband's grandfather, Oscar Buchanan "Buck" Evinger was the proprietor initially and I think it passed into his oldest son's hands (Charles or "Roy" Evinger) when Buck left Hood River after his wife, Malinda, died in 1919. The store was located in the same space as Barckley's Pharmacy was in later years from what my husband was told by his father. Anything at all about the confectionery would be very much appreciated. Or, for that matter, anything about Buck or his family would be equally great to have. I have been to the courthouse, library and museum and come up empty-handed except for copies of advertisements and listings in old phone books, so this is about the only thing I can think to do. Thanks for your attention. Kathy

Hi everyone! I am now the official list owner for ORHOODRI-L I am also the County Coordinator for this county as part of the OrGenWeb project. I will be updating the pages periodically so if you would like to let me know the surnames you are looking for and the path of migration (ex MO>TX>OR) and the years plus your name and email address, I will update the researchers page at the county site listed at the bottom of this message. I just took over the county so give me some time to get some records online. If anyone one the list is living in this county and wishes to do some transcribing or photocopying of public records, let me know and I will be more than happy to type it up. I just don't have the time to do all of it myself. I hope everyone on the list benefits from being here and I will do my best to help where I can. Have a great weekend! Stacey L. Minnie Estella Swadley married Bemjamin Harrison Foster in Cascade Locks, Or (Hood River Co.) in about 1914.Benjamin Foster was born in Cape Horn,Wa. Jan. 21, 1889, died in Portland, Or. Feb. 7, 1974. Minnie was born in Springfield, Mo. July 7, 1896. She died in Cascade Locks, Or. April 8, 1923. She gave birth to 3 chilren while in Cascade Locks. A son Harry Davis (who was not the child of Benj Foster) born Sept. 6, 1914, a son Albert Foster born Feb. 28, 1918, and a daughter Maxine Marie Foster born Aug. 15, 1920, died in Portland, Oregon (Multnomah Co.) Dec. 1, 1988. Minnie's parents also lived in Cascade Locks or Cape Horn, Wa. or close by.Their names were John A. and Anna M. Swadley. I think they, too, were from Missouri, but originally from Germany. Anna Swadley's maiden name may have been Lane, but the name Tuesson was found in a baby book of Maxines. I would appreciate it if anyone could help me find info on any of these people, like death certs, burial records, marriage records, names of parents, etc. Minnie Swadley was my husband's grandmother, although she died when Maxine (his mother) was only 3 yrs old Please write me with any info anyone can find. I am Judy Hague judypdx@webtv.net.Thank you

Locks April 8, 1923. She was born July 7, 1896 in Springfield Mo. (Green Co.) She was married to Benjamin Harrison Foster. He was born in Cape Horn, Washington Jan.21,1889. He died in Portland, Oregon Feb.7, 1974. They lived in Cascade Locks. I would like to know their date of marriage. She was the mother to Harry Davis, Albert Foster and Maxine Foster. Minnie was pregnant with son Harry Davis when she married Ben Foster. I do not know who the Mr. Davis was who was the father of Minnie's son Harry Davis. Harry was born Sept. 6, 1914, so I would guess that Minnie and Ban were married sometime in 1914. I believe that Minnie Swadley's parents also lived in Cascade Locks. Their names were John A. and Anna M. Swadley. They probably came from Missourii, too. I have no dates on them. Anna M. Swadley"s parents were named Lane I believe. If anyone can help me obtain info from Hood River Co. &/or Cascade Locks I would really appreciate any help. Minnie was my husband's grandmother although she died when my husband's mother was only 3 years old. We finally located a pic of Minnie. I have been told that the Swadleys were from Germany originally. I am a Newbie, so if I have not done this correctly please let me know what I should be doing. Thanks to you all! Judy
