Hi, I am new to the list, saw a recent posting about the Oregon Death Index and was wondering how one accessed it. Is it on CD, online, or elsewheres? Any hints, tips, or suggestions appreciated. Philip Naff Indianapolis, Indiana

Shaunta, Thanks for clearing that up for me. Have you checked out the Oregon Archives searchable data base at http://159.121.115.13/databases/searchgeneal.html ? That page appears to be down this weekend but hopefully would be fixed by Monday. Also, many Oregon couples crossed the river to Vancouver, WA to get married because of the less stringent license requirements there. Another popular marriage place was Stevenson, WA. My Ruth Hall (daughter of Oran Hall) has no known connection to Hood River. I know she was married, but haven't been able to track down her marriage certificate in the obvious county--Multnomah--so I am branching out into others--hence the marriage certificate of Ruth Hall (apparently the daughter of A.N. Hall) and Lester Andrews from 1927. This couple was married in Hood River County. That is all I know about them. I don't need their certificate and posted a message with the hope that I could reach someone who does. shaunta ORHOODRI-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > Shaunta, > > Please give us details about their connection to Hood River. Hi, I am searching for information regarding Ruth Hall, daughter of Oran Hall. Ruth was born in 1901 in Portland, Oregon. I took a chance and ordered a marriage certificate from the Oregon archives for a RUTH HALL and LESTER ANDREWS (dated 1927). This isn't the Ruth Hall I am looking for unfortunately (this Ruth is the daughter of A.N. Hall) so if anyone wants the certificate, I'd be happy to pass it on. shaunta

Oregon death records are restricted for 50 years following a person's death, but here are a couple of web pages that might help you. Start with http://www.sos.state.or.us/BlueBook/1999_2000/topic/vital/vital01.htm , which has a link to the Center for Health Statistics, which has death records for the entire state from 1903-present. The Oregon State Archives has uncertified statewide death certificates for 1903-1950. This is a great deal as the cost is only $ .25 per page plus postage, and you can simply email a request to them and send the money after you receive the certificate(s). The URL for this is http://arcweb.sos.state.or.us/banners/genealogy.htm Good luck with your hunt. Beth Perry Johnston
