    3. A few weeks ago a group of willing volunteers came together to help sort about 25 boxes of donated periodicals. Exact duplicates were made available to members on the free table outside the library. Attendees got first choice. Some issues were found that were missing from the collections in the library, and other titles that are new to us are being considered for inclusion in the library by the collection development committee. All this resulted in 25 boxes being reduced to four, creating much needed space in the library workroom. Many, many thanks to those who came in to help with the magazines. Two more events are planned: Sunday, March 3th beginning at 9 am (traffic and parking should not be any problem at this time) though you don't have to arrive that early if you don't want. Come when you can, stay until you can. We're calling this event "Map-quest" because we will be going through files and boxes of mixes items to gather all the maps we can find. There are about 24 file drawers and about a dozen boxes. Once the maps are found they can be culled of duplicates-the first step in the process. For other steps after this event, map lovers will be asked to come together for more help with the collection. Watch the Insider for more information. Friday, March 15th from 9-3 there will be a "Media Mission" event where we will be going through the same steps we did with the periodicals. We've scheduled this early to help with the parking situation. The early birds shouldn't have any trouble. There are about a dozen boxes of cd's, tapes, microforms and the like that we hope to sort, discard, and redistribute to clear overburdened shelves. Again, you can arrive anytime and leave anytime for this (hopefully) one-time event. Lots of people are needed to get these jobs done, so if you have a few hours to give for the benefit of your genealogical organization and library, please add one or both of these events to your calendar. We really, really need YOU! For more information you may contact Laurel at president@gfo.org or 503-513-5500. Laurel _____ Laurel Smith President Genealogical Forum of Oregon 503-513-5500
