Traffic constraints on Powell Frontage Road (westbound at 18th Ave): ongoing for a few months To improve bike and pedestrian connectivity, the light rail project is building a new sidewalk link along the north side of Powell, from underneath the railroad bridge to 19th Avenue. This requires construction on the Powell Frontage Road. Businesses will remain accessible but watch for detour signage. NIGHTTIME demolition and lane closures on Powell Boulevard (between 13th and 22nd avenues): week of March 11 In preparation for bridge and sidewalk construction, crews will be demolishing the retaining walls along the north side of Powell Boulevard near the railroad overpass. Because this work requires lane closures on Powell, the work will be performed Monday-Friday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. under a noise variance from the City of Portland. Powell will be narrowed to one lane in each direction between 13th and 22nd avenues, and the 21st Ave intersection will be controlled by flaggers. Access to driveways and side streets will be maintained. This work is currently scheduled to begin west of the railroad overpass on Monday, March 11, continuing for about one week. Similar demolition east of the railroad overpass will take place about two weeks later. Please share this information with your neighbors, and please don't hesitate to contact me with questions. Thanks in advance for your patience!
