Hello GFO, I'm sure there are some American Legion members out there in GFO. I tried to get a download of the membership app. online, but wasn't able to get a copy of the PDF file for some reason. I wanted to see what kinds of questions had to be answered and if they required proof of military service from the applicant in order to join. If they required that kind of proof to be shown, does anyone know if a copy of that paperwork would have been kept in the membership file? If yes, would it be possible for a family member to get a copy of that proof? Has anyone ever had a look at or received copies of what was in the file for their father or grandfather? Was there more than just the question and answer form filled out for membership? Thanks. Jan Fenter

I have never thought of asking any veteran organizations for this information. But I do know that each one has a paid employee called a "Veterans Service R epresentative " and that they are available here in Portland. The phone number for the American Legion is 503.412.4771; DAV 503.412.4750; VFW 503.412.4757; Paralyzed Veterans of America 503.412.4762; and the Military Order of the Purple Heart 503.412.4770 .  Awaiting someone reply to your questions.
