    3. Some of you may remember Jack Decker, who served as a GFO Research Assistant a few years back. Gerry Lenzen said that he had gone a few weeks earlier to Jack's house to pick up some books from him. So was a surprise to him--the passing. Lyleth Winther Decker, Jack Leeland Age85 Oct. 02, 1927 May 02, 2013 Prior to his passing May 2, Jack was surrounded by his devoted family and loved ones. Survived by his wife, Mary; sons, David (Emily) of Portland, Eric (Wendy) of Needham, Mass.; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Born in Portland to Lee and Anna Decker on Oct. 2,1927, he was named "Jack" by his big sister, Betty (Prestwood). Jack worked for Boise Cascade in research and also served as general manager of paper mills in the Philippines and Guatemala. After retirement he was able to pursue his many interests, especially genealogy. Jack had degrees in chemistry from Oregon State University. He enjoyed walking the dog and going to dog parks to visit his two and four-legged friends. A memorial will be held May 28 at 2 p.m. at Multnomah Presbyterian Church, 7555 SW 45 Ave., Portland. In lieu of flowers, donations to Legacy Hopewell House Hospice, 6171 SW Capitol Hwy., Portland, OR 97239-2649 or your local humane society would be appreciated.
