    1. [GFO] FTDNA's Family Finder Test and the DNA Interest Group Mtg

    3. Greetings, Last week I emailed all of you about Build 36 being upgraded to Build 37 for the Family Finder test. (This has nothing to do with any of the other tests.) The change in the Builds is what we would think of as an update to a program.version such and such. Anyway, I was told that what was to be done for Build 37 was done; however, when two people downloaded the new files, they found the file was titled Build 36. Upon further investigation and in hoping that someone just forgot to change the file name, I discovered there is still more to come. As Bennett (owner of FTDNA) gave the go ahead for a research study which he's also in, it was understood that the system was ok to use. However, for you purists, you may wish to wait. Here is the note that came today from FTDNA: Hi Emily, I'm sorry, I got an answer but got pulled away before I could let you know. There's a small amount of work to do on it and they're aiming at releasing it when we launch a few other changes they've been working on, should be less than a month. Bennett's been nudging them about it though, so it may be released before then. If so, I'll let you know. Thanks for your patience! For our July 27th meeting at the GFO library (for directions see: www.gfo.org) there are a few items to note: 1. We will still cover how to do Chromosome mapping, but if you choose not to download your data there will be no need to bring your laptop. However, you could download some and just practice. 2. Starting Monday July 15, there will be NO WAY to cross the railroad tracks either at Milwaukee (12th) just north of Powell or on 11th just South of Division. However, my understanding is that the parking lot across 11th from the library will be open. I spoke to some of the workers last week about being able to get into the parking lot, but not out of the lot due to the one-way street. They thought the street on that block would be two-way, but said they would check. However, just know that traffic will be a mess and parking nearly impossible. If anyone lives near me (Eastmoreland - 36th and Lambert), you are welcome to hitch a ride. I strongly suggest carpooling. You can part on the street as it is Saturday, and there is a gravel parking lot 1 block east of the library and on the north side of Division. Emily If you do not hear from me in a timely manner, just write again...I was buried in email.
