Greetings! This email is going out to all my projects as well as the local DNA interest group, other societies, and individuals so bear with the duplication for some of you. For those of you who have taken the Family Finder test with Family Tree DNA, it is now ok to download your information for the first time (or again, as is the case with many of us) as Build 37 is now what it will be. Why do I say that Build 37 is now what it will be? Because this is Bennett's (Owner of FTDNA) comment. Bennett commented: "In fact neither us nor 23andme are using exactly build 37, but I think you can achieve what you want." So, officially, all of you have the "go ahead" to download your raw data. For those of you who plan to attend the DNA Interest Group at Portland (Oregon)'s GFO (Genealogical Forum of Oregon) Library, please try to download your raw data into Excel by July 27. We will be starting over with the process for the new people or those who need help. BRING YOUR laptop or commandeer a computer early. The meeting starts at 10 a.m. I will have the handouts up at the GFO website sometime the week of July 22. Please copy them for yourself and don't cry at the length. I think you may find them more helpful that those at last year's meeting. ALSO, August 24th I will be doing a half-day seminar at GFO on the Basics of DNA as well as general info on autosomal DNA testing.
