    2. It may have been that the boat was put on a trailer and hauled by oxen, railroad or another means around the falls to the upper/lower river. dw says: It wasn't by railroad because the railroad wasn't in place that early. There wasn't much room to move anything around the falls then, either. You've probably seen those rock bluffs that have been chiseled out to make room for the railroad tracks and highway in that area. But those pioneers were persistent people and they certainly accomplished a lot with the meager tools they had at the time. Daraleen

    3. But you may be making an assumption that the boat was taken out and put back in near to the falls when in fact it could have been taken out and put back in anywhere on the upper or lower portion of the river not just where the obstruction (the falls occur - similar to using collateral lines for research to getting around a brick wall). -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, July 22, 2005 4:19 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [GFO] 1852 pioneers It may have been that the boat was put on a trailer and hauled by oxen, railroad or another means around the falls to the upper/lower river. dw says: It wasn't by railroad because the railroad wasn't in place that early.
