    3. Hi trail fans Thanks for the many messages about my web site on the Overland Trail. My latest endeavor is to post bios about all the drivers, messengers, and other employees of the Overland Stage Line, which included "Wild Bill Hickok", "Buffalo Bill", Jack Slade, and other lesser known folks, such as Rattlesnake Pete, Cross-eyed John, Long Slim among many hundreds of others. If any of you out there have any connections to any of these guys, please let me know. I'd love to have more information, especially names of families, etc. They generally were around from the 1850's until 1870's. Lists of their names are at: Messengers: http://www.over-land.com/messenger.html Drivers: http://www.over-land.com/drivers.html Other Employees: http://www.over-land.com/otemploy.html These lists are definitely not complete yet! There were several hundred employees of the Overland over it's short history, many of whom were wagon team drivers, etc prior to the establishment of the stage line. My other ongoing project is to collect emigrant diaries that are already posted on the web, and put them on my "Diaries" page at: http://www.over-land.com/diaries.html At last count, there were well over 100, plus several Diary Collections that others have posted. I have found that many emigrant diaries are posted on people's personal home page, and are therefore harder to locate using a search engine. Please let me know if you come across any of them. Many thanks! My gr grandfather Canada Montgomery found himself in Brownsville, OR in 1853 and married Eleanor Jane Blakely. They relocated to Wasco Co., OR ca 1875; as my father's mother was born there 5 FEB 1875. In 1943 my father bought a house w/19 acres at Foster, OR. I think this was the Shea homestead. My grandmother told me that she remembered riding with he father as a young girl over the Cascades to the Willamette Valley with her father on his freight wagon, and they would always stop there (at Foster) to buy onions from the guy who owned that house. There are some old and recent photo's of that location in my RULAFORD web pages at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cchouk/rulaford/ Not too many years ago they restored a section of the old road near Sweet Home (to the east) that my gr grandfather and my grandmother traveled by wagon.
