Hey listers! I have two different families traveling over the trail. One is my side and one is my husband's side. Husband's side: George Pew Rich B:16 Aug 1847-Robinson,Crawford Co,IL M:29 March 1868-KS D:18 Nov 1908-Clackamas Co,OR SP: Nancy Hickey I have a copy of George's obit in the paper. It says that he came to Oregon by way of California in 1875, arriving in May of that year. George and Nancy had 13 kids which the first three were not born in Oregon. One of those kids is my husband's great grandpa. George was a minister for about 30 years. I'm not sure when he started. Family says that he was preaching when he died. So I guess you could say that he was happy doing what he loved the best!! Two family stories are going around that: 1)George and family came by trail and 2)George and family came by boat around Cape Horn! I would like to prove or disprove one or the other. It gets so frustrating when stories conflict!! I've already put a book together for this family. My side: I don't know much about this side because I haven't done much research. My grandma has been doing most of it. She's been researching since the 1940's. I've been helping her with the computer end. Here's the info: Elizabeth Jane Mattoon. B:30 April 1841-ORegon M:3 July 1859-Oregon D:1 March 1922-Oregon SP:Alonzo Seymour Wells Elizabeth's parents:Allen Mattoon-Mary A. LaGee They were both born in NY. Allen and Mary had 11 children. Elizabeth is the oldest. I don't know when they came to oregon. My grandma says that Elizabeth was born on the trail! I'm not sure where. Can someone out there help?
