I am researching the John DOUGLASS family who were (reported by family) located in Wells co., IN until the year 1852 when they decided to make the long journey across the plains to Oregon. The DOUGLASS family had several daughters who were married at the time. The daughters and their husbands reportedly accompanied their father along with young brother, John Jr. I cannot find them in any of the wagon trains, only in oral histories given by descendants in the 1970's. Can someone help me to establish which wagon train they came on? Here is the family that reportedly made the trip by ox pulled covered wagon in 1852; John DOUGLASS, b. 14 June 1794, Cumberland, PA and wife Elizabeth (Lefevre) DOUGLASS who died in June 1852 on the trail from Pneumonia at Green River where she is reported to be buried. John jr. received a DLC in 1875 and 1881 which is now in the city of Troutdale, OR. Douglass cemetery in that town is from land donated by the DOUGLASS family.
