My husbands ggg grandfather: Eli WALKER b.1790/91 Oneida Co., NY and his wife Ruth SOUTHERLAND WALKER and family came to OR and had a claim filed at Roseburg, Douglad Co.(once Umpqua Co.), OR for 640 acres T.23S, R. 4W Sections 10,11,14,15. He was issued a Patent to his claim on 26 Jul 1866. 1860 Umpqua Co shows him and wife and children. All still found on 1870 and 1880 in OR. Eli WALKER's dtr (my husbands gg grandmother): Almira WALKER m.4 Mar 1863 Umpqua Co., OR. to Millard F. SYKES who came from PA to OR. She & her husband however left for Fall River Valley CA ca.1882 Eli and his wife Ruth WALKER d. 1868 & 1869 in Elkhead OR and are buried Yoncalla Cem., Douglas Co., OR. Any SYKES, WALKER, SOUTHERLAND connections from Northeast US to OR around this time??
