Robert Elwell, 1837 married Sophia Clawson, b. 1838. Don't know which train they came on (possibly 1862), but were in Oregon where daughter Elizabeth Electa Elwell was born in 1857, and sons George b. 1859 and LeRoy b. 1866. Elizabeth Electa Elwell married John Peter Messinger, b. 1852 in Ohio. Suspect the Elwell's and Messinger's were from the same area (possibly Carroll County) of Ohio. John Peter and Elizabeth died in Dayton, WA where they farmed prior to 1880.

Lookng for a male WILHOIT from Nebraska. Does anyone have him on a list to Oregon trail? MVG
My husbands gggrandparents were on the 1864 wagon train, from Ray County, MO. to Benton, County Oregon. That was John Nelson WILLIAMSON and his wife Catherine, and many of their children. They were also accompanied by neighbors named, CARTER, HOLMAN, RAINWATER, and TOMLINSON. Velma Brakel
WILHOIT is not a common name...and it reminds me of the WILHOIT hot springs in Clackamas county. I haven't heard anything about it for a long time but when I was a child (1940's) my parents and their friends went there often. The only rememberance I have of it was it smelled like rotten eggs. I believe it was an early 'spa' of some sort. I believe it was named for the WILHOIT family who were original owners. Doneva Gallokc@aol.com wrote: Lookng for a male WILHOIT from Nebraska.
