Superintendent George Yertson opened the forum with a verbal history of the earth slippage problem and what had been done about it and junior high staff members conducted tours of the damaged buildings, which engineers have estimated have an expected useful life of only about two more years. Little Edna was particularly unfortunate in taking down with diptheria on the day before Christmas. Not to be cheated out of the festivities of that occasion, Santa Claus was invited to call last night, and the children probably enjoyed themselves the better for the delay. In the all-Northwest football team composed of the crack players of the coast, Jim Elton has been chosen as one of the tackles, which is most complementary to our Dalles player. The Oregonian gives him a good sendoff. "Looking Back: a glimpse through The Chronicle's files is painstakingly assembled each week by Chronicle news staff member Elroy King."
