Sacramento Evening Bee Wednesday, February 22, 1905 JAY HUGHES WILL TWIRL FOR PORTLAND A dispatch from Portland, Oregon, says that Jay Hughes, of Sacramento, who twirled for Seattle for the past two seasons has been sold to Manager McCREEDIE, of Portland, by Russ HALL, of Seattle. It is understood that McCreedie paid $1000 for Hughes. Jay Hughes, who first learned to play the National game in the vacant lots in this city, is one of the best pitchers on this coast, and is a valuable acquisition to the Portland team.
