    3. "Last week's picture, at left, was contributed by Ted Gibbs of Dufur (Oregon), who identified the structure as the Mt. Hood lookout, located at the top of the mountain. The picture was taken in 1928 or 1929. Three names are known, From left, Ron Creel, Berry Creel and Nevada Creel. Ted Davenport remembered making the climb in 1953, when just a few boards were left. Terray Harmon pointed out that every piece of lumber in the lookout had to be hauled up on the back of a climber, and the cables were intended to keep the structure standing in spite of ferocious winds. They worked for several decades before it seccumbed." The Dalles Chronicle April 28, 2002 Written permission to reprint History Mystery article given by The Dalles Chronicle, The Dalles, Oregon.
