    3. "Last week's mystery photo, below, featured a crew doing something for a utility. The contraption was designed to hook up to power lines and run a current through the pipes to thaw them. It took pretty specialized knowledge to answer this one, and only two managed to answer correctly. One of them, Max Jahn, wrote: "The fascinating contraption, as you described it, was used to thaw frozen water pipes in The Dalles sometime in the late 20s...The gentleman on the right with his hand and arm on the barrel is my dad, Frank Jahn. He was employed by Pacific Power & Light for approximately 40 years in The Dalles as Line Superintendent...Frank Jahn died in March of 1984 at the age of 105." Linda Wilson of PUD (Northern Wasco County Public Utilities District) was able to identify the photo, which was submitted by Jake Grossmiller. His grandfather, Henry Rumsey, is the fellow on the left side of the picture."
