    1. [OREGON] Information - Out of State Fees
    2. Chris Havnar
    3. I got a response from Layne at the Oregon Archives and the bottom line is that for an out of state researcher, a death certificate that currently costs 25 cents will rise to $10 - for in state researchers who do not go to Salem the cost will rise from the current 25 cents to $5 I know that I will spending some of my next Oregon vacation - not visiting family but in the Archives .... Layne's response below - I don't mean to start anything - but since I was confused as to the proposed costs and various folks were reading the proposal in various manners - I thought I'd share the information so that everyone had the same information from a reliable source. In effect out of state residents will be asked to pay a $5.00 surcharge on any request they send to us. We regret the need to institute this new fee structure but we are faced with very significant budget reductions. > >We are developing a series of on-line forms which we hope will make answering requests more efficient (once we all get use to them). This will change our policy regarding two names per request. So to go back to your original question of how much it would cost for an out-of-state resident to receive two death certificates, the answer would be a total of $20.00. > >Again I should state these are proposed changes and the comments we receive from our customers/patrons will be considered before the final rules are adopted. > >Thank you for asking for clarification. I sincerely hope we continue to have the opportunity to serve you in the future. > >Regards, > >Layne Sawyer >Oregon State Archives
