"Hillsboro Argus", March 14th, 1907. Killed today was railroad worker Alexis Aggelles, the explosive expert for the railroad construction crew. Alexis was thawing dynamite on the chuck wagon stove, when some of it caught fire. He threw it off the stove, but ignition followed, blowing him to bits. Workers were given the next day off, for his funeral. What's left of him will be buried in Lone Fir Cemetery in Portland. Alexis is from Greece. The where abouts of his next of kin are unknown. CORONER'S INQUEST: Alex Aggelles, a Greek laborer employed the the P R & N RR died at tunnel #1 above Buxton from explosion of dynamite accidental.
