I have been searching for the death date/place for Thornton Reeves whose wife was Minerva Evaline Carsner/Casner (b8-21-1856 d9-18-1927). Minerva is listed as a widow on the 1920 Grant County census taken 1-28-1920 so presumably Thorton died piror to that date. I did find a T. M. Reeves who died in OR. I obtained a copy of the Certifiate of Death for T. M. Reeves from the OR Archives. I'm not sure if it is my Thornton Reeves or not; the age is about right. He died at the Oregon State Hospital, Salem Oregon and the death date is Nov. 10, 1920. The physician had been attending him since 6-23-1913 until 11-10-1920. The certificate says he was married and that he was born 11-8-1856. The informaant is the Oregon State Hospital. His mother and father are Jessee Reeves and Sarah Jane Reeves (that's all the information given) QUESTION: In 1920 was the Oregon State Hospital a medical hospital or was it a hospital for the mentally challenged, the insane, the elderly that were not able to care for themselves, etc.? I doubt that it was a medical facility since he had been there for about seven years. Where would I locate records for that time period? Thanks for any information.
