    3. Surnames: Maddox, Allison, Dickinson, Souza, Tate Carl Ray Maddox, 66, a resident of Lebanon (Oregon), died at the Oregon Veterans' Home (The Dalles) on Thursday, March 28, 2002. He was born September 14, 1935, in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Theodore William and Bessie Mahala Allison Maddox. As a child, he moved to California where he graduated from the Anderson Valley High School in Booneville. He lettered as a member of the high school football team. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army. He married Margaret Lee Dickinson on June 6, 1958, in Lewiston, California. He lived in Penngrove, California and worked in the construction of marinas in the Bay (San Francisco) area. He retired in 1991. He came to the Lebanon and Brownsville areas in 1992 and moved to The Dalles in 2000. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed woodworking, tri-chem painting and gardening. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his children Shurleen and Tim Souza, Lebanon; Cherlye and Fred Tate, Brownsville, California; and Karla Maddox, Harrisburg; Dale Maddox, Berkeley, California; Chris and Kelli Maddox, Lebanon; and Steve and Angie Maddox, Brownsville; along with 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Anna, Wanitta, Pat and Bessie, brothers Chuck and Corky, all of California. He was preceded in death by son Gilbert Neal Maddox in 1965, granddaughter Olivia Maddox in 1999 and brothers Donald and Wilbur. Viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday in the Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel in Sweet Home (Oregon). Graveside services will begin at 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, in the Brownsville Pioneer Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Oregon Veterans' Home in care of the Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel at 1443 Long Street, Sweet Home, Oregon 97386.
