Surnames: Hall, Chubb, Rawson John Latham Hall, 78, a resident of The Dalles and a former resident of Portland, died Monday, April 15, 2002 at the Oregon Veterans Home (The Dalles). He was born September 1, 1923, in Guildford, England to Latham and Evelyn (Chubb) Hall and spent his early childhood in England and Argentina, moving to the U.S. at the age of 12. He attended Mercerburg Academy in Maryland and Colorado College before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1942 and returning to Europe to serve in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. Following the war he lived in Portland and worked as a financial consultant. He married Ellen Rawson in 1955 in Des Moines, Iowa; they were later divorced. He was a member of the Multnomah Athletic Club, the Arlington Club, the Racquet Club and the University Club and was a member of the Episcopal church. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and cooking. He is survived by his sons, John and Ted Hall, Portland, and by two grandchildren. Memorial services will be observed privately by his family.
